Students will have a one-week window (March 19 March 26, 2021) to record their performance and upload to the MusicFirst web-based program for music evaluations. There will be NO IN-PERSON festivals this year. Overall each participant is judged on seven categories, tone, intonation, technique, accuracy, interpretation, scales, and sight reading. This festival, as with all 2021 NYSSMA solo festivals will be held virtually. Instrumental soloists also must play scales, the number of which are determined by difficulty level of the solo. Kyle is one of 240 seniors nationally, one of 18 from New York State, and one of three from Westchester County in the Mixed Choir. Each NYSSMA solo is preassigned a difficulty level from I (easiest) to VI (most difficult). Kyle’s selection to All-State last year, as a junior, qualified him to audition. PHS senior Kyle Largey has been accepted into the All-National Honors Ensembles (ANHE) Mixed Choir and will perform with the “best of the best” at the National Association for Music Educators (NAfME) gala in Orlando, Florida, November 7–10.
